Description

Saucony used its TRIFLEX outsole technology beneath the Ride 14. The rubber outsole adds traction on pavement and improves the shoe’s durability, but it also prioritizes a natural roll from heel to toe. The Guide from Saucony has received high marks for consistently being a solid shoe in the brand’s stability lineup, as the mid-cushioned, firmer younger sister of the brand’s Hurricane which employs the softer PWRRUN+ midsole.

Shoe Review: Saucony Ride 14 | Fleet Feet Shoe Review: Saucony Ride 14 | Fleet Feet

The 860 has a more streamlined cut and seems to bring me onto my toes more readily than the Guide, with Guide 14 providing a more substantial-feeling base underfoot. The Saucony Ride has always been one of the most consistent trainers from update to update. Each Ride had a very similar feel to its predecessor: versions had minor incremental changes and consistency was what the Ride was known for. The feathery feel complements the moderately firm cushioning for a ride that can handle any type of run.For a neutral shoe, the Saucony Ride really impressed us with its steady platform. We believe that it comes from the combination of the midsole shape, the foam firmness, and the fact that our heels sit deeper inside the shoe. Fit: A- (Really comfortable and padded upper that is still lightweight, mild creasing in tongue as it transitions into toebox)

Saucony Ride 15 Review (2023) | RunRepeat Cut in half: Saucony Ride 15 Review (2023) | RunRepeat

Saucony’s PWRRUN midsole is the same cushion used in the lightweight Kinvara 12 and stable Guide 14, where it’s proven to be lightweight and springy. It’s no different in the Ride, reviewers say. My first run in the shoe actually felt refreshingly light as I had been running in Gaviota 3. I ran some fast-paced intervals amid traces of melting snow from spring! While running in this shoe, I wouldn’t say the midsole excites the soul, but it’s pleasant and doesn’t feel dull or heavy. This shoe is great for daily training. No break-in period neededSaucony included a padded tongue to alleviate pressure on the top of your foot, and they sewed it into a partial bootie for a precise fit. The upper gives the Ride a comfortable fit and soft feel, one tester says. Guide to Hurricane is similar to Adrenaline to Transcend (now replaced by Glycerin) in the Brooks lineup. Matt: The Ride 14 continues to a stable neutral shoe. There is a heel counter that wraps almost into the midfoot, yet is still cushioned enough that it did not irritate my heel. The heel bevel is smoother now thanks to the softer ride. The wider outsole last really helps in the midfoot as it is more consistent with the rest of the shoe. The very flexible forefoot helps continue forward progression. Saucony shoes also tend to have a little higher arch, which does give a little more proprioceptive cue into the medial arch. This isn't arch support necessarily (certainly not a post), but can still be supportive. Classically Saucony, there is also medial and lateral midsole flare throughout the length of the shoe. Those that need mild support (me) will do fine in this shoe and those sensitive to posting/arch support will not notice this. DPT/Footwear Science: B+ (Great forefoot flexibility, nice naturally stable ride. Bevel could be a bit more aggressive) But, if you’re a fan of the Guide line, you’ll get the same reliable stability. Flat- feeling transition, but oh, the upper feels so cozy, even miles into the run.
