Escape the hustle and bustle with this tranquil jungle oasis in the most unlikely of places atop one of the most famous landmarks in London. Located in the heart of the city, Sky Garden is London’s highest public garden on the 43rd floor of the Walkie Talkie building. When staff attempted to stop him, he could be heard saying: ‘Oh, I can’t ride a bike here? I didn’t know.’ So, what does the Green Chain walk entail? The entire trail is a 50-mile walk snaking through unexpected greenery and attractions hidden between London suburbs. The real draw of this walk is that it is built for locals, not tourists, giving visitors a chance to see an authentic part of London, away from the millionaire flats. Most importantly, this is a welcome retreat for city-dwellers.

Kew Gardens is home to the most miniature royal palace, which was resided in from the early 18th century. Plan your route depending on which of the many visitor attractions most takes your fancy. Do you prefer deer parks, 12th-century abbeys, colourful graffiti, or going deep into the woods?
