This book took me completely by surprise, I knew it was second chance romance but I had never read one before so had no idea what to expect. This book is founded less on sexual tension and physical attraction/ intimacy, but instead on Harriet and Wyn’s profound and unmoving love for each other. The use of two time periods - past & present - makes this book have the depth I deeply crave, making you understand every intricacy of every character and every situation required. Happy place is raw. A book millennials will definitely see themselves in, but that can also reach across generations, tugging at a space we all carry in our hearts. A love story that will be deeply and uniquely personal to each reader, instigating an interesting and timely debate about escapism, happiness, and what it means to live our best lives. But how can you pretend to be in love - and get away with it - in front of the people who know you best? This was much more than a romance; it was a beautifully woven tale about friendship, grief, love and personal growth sprinkled with fun banter and some heart-breaking moments.

The setting was gorgeous and the characters were loveable, rich, and complex. The dynamics of this friendship group should be studied, and I am processing my paperwork to join this group in their cottage as we speak. The “happy at home” index, now in its 10th year, asked more than 21,000 people across Britain how they feel about various aspects of where they live.EAT: In this Michelin star-spangled nation, one Gstaad hotel has a double portion. The Alpina Gstaad is home to two Michelin-starred restaurants: the seasonal, Swiss-accented Sommet, and the always buzzing Japanese Megu. I made a playlist of songs that I listened to whilst reading, you can find it here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7BoKGGvs9LXQMMqoN5e1iX?si=r4cf6dTbRtuAr1HNUhXOdQ (Taylor Swift is heavily featured, obviously). Brimming with characters you can't help but fall for and off-the-charts chemistry, HAPPY PLACE is Emily Henry doing what she does best! I can't put into words how much I adored this book. I'm a serial multiple books reader but I read this in one sitting and I'm both so glad I did and so upset it's over.

Harriet and Wynn broke up 6 months ago, but they haven't told anyone, especially not their closest friends. And now, they don't want to ruin their annual vacation with their best friends, so they decide to pretend they're still together. I loved the friends relationships and the found family aspect of this story. I wished I was among this group of people, soaking up the coastal air.Bury St Edmunds is a historic market town located in Suffolk, England. It’s the home of Saint Edmund, the original patron Saint of England, and there are 1,000 years of history to explore through the town’s cathedral, abbey ruins, and museums. Woodbridge has a nautical history of making sails, ropes, and boats – for example, Sir Francis Drake’s fighting ships were built here. Today, wild swimming is popular in Woodbridge’s River Deben and residents also like to enjoy a quiet stroll along its banks while admiring the classic, working Tide Mill (and perhaps even spotting the occasional seal!). There are also plenty of pubs and restaurants here, as well as a zoo, a first-class golf course, and some excellent theatres. I highlighted approx 250 quotes (I know, insanity) because I was addicted to this book, and once again addicted to the way in which Henry writes. This book made me cry … multiple times. I am a massive crybaby when it comes to books and films, but I have to feellll what is being portrayed to me, and that’s certainly what I did with Happy Place. The emotions were portrayed so BEAUTIFULLY, one thing I have come to expect from Henry’s books is the main characters communicating in a healthy, deep way. DO: This is a country that loves its wellness-y water circuits—many of which are fed by thermal hot springs. Soak up some of that mineralized goodness in the pools at Bad Ragaz, or venture to the tiny village of Vals to experience the relaxation temple that is 7132 Therme, where the pools are fed by warm waters from the Valser Valley.

Waiting for a tram in Helsinki, Finland, which was just ranked the happiest country in the world for ... [+] the fifth year in a row. getty World’s 20 Happiest Countries EAT: Head to the culinary capital of Gothenburg, where you should take a food tour—or craft your own (in which case, consider carbo-loading at the artisan Cum Pane bakery before wandering through the Feskekorka market hall and hopping a lobster safari to pull up your own catch). This coastal town is home to two award-winning beaches: Llandudno North Shore Beach and West Shore Beach. Both offer amazing views overlooking the Irish Sea. The Llandudno Pier is also iconic; a 700m walkway lined with independent shops, arcades, and tempting food stalls, it’s popular with residents and tourists alike. Every year, they take a holiday from their lives to drink far too much wine with their favourite people in the world. Another reason that Newbury is a popular place to live is its location. Situated just off the M4 motorway, the town is well-connected to both London and Bristol, making it an attractive option for commuters.Physical spaces and places affect how we feel, think, and behave. This sentiment is at the heart of environmental psychology. You can harness the benefits of thinking about your favorite physical place–your literal “happy place.” Happy Place is a second-chance romance masterpiece. One that will hit you in the feels right from the beginning. Harriet and Wyn have broken up six months and find themselves at their yearly getaway with their best friends, having to pretend to still be together as they have not announced their break-up to anyone. Except, they're not over each other. How is it that every time Emily Henry brings a new book out into the world, I end up loving it more than the previous one (which I always think is impossible)? DO: The following is not a typo. The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is a Danish don't-miss. One of Scandinavia's best collections of contemporary works, it'll see exhibits by everyone from Lauren Greenfield to Marsden Hartley this year, but what you see from this museum 25 miles outside of Copenhagen is just as noteworthy: the seventh-happiest country on earth (aka Sweden). Taking the top spot is St Ives – and it’s been here many times before, with the last time being in 2020.

But the cottage is for sale so this is the last time they'll all be here together. They can't bear to break their best friends' hearts so they'll fake it for one more week. For us to go on this journey together, you won’t need to go anywhere near a wind chime. You need nothing more than an open mind and a little curiosity. Available in sizes small, medium and now also in size large!!! They are short so be prepared to show some leg! Model is 5’8”. Size large is 4” longer. Size medium is 1.5” longer. Macclesfield is considered to be a bit of a hidden gem because it’s concealed under the guise of a sleepy market town. But its historic cobbled streets are lined with a network of unique shops, award-winning restaurants, and atmospheric bars and cafes that could arguably rival those in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Worcester is generally considered a safe place to live and transport links are good. There are two railway stations, with direct trains to London, Birmingham, and other major cities. Plus, the M5 motorway also provides easy access to other parts of the country.

first of all I AM SO GRATEFUL TO HAVE READ THIS EARLY. THANK YOU TO EMILY HENRY + TEAM AT PENGUIN FOR THIS. It’s set by a lovely stretch of the river Thames and home to some of our island’s most incredible natural spaces – such as Kew Gardens, Richmond Park, and Bushy Park (the latter two are home to hundreds of deer!).
