When it comes to paint, it is important to first consider the options when it comes to finish. A large number of paints, from interior wall & ceiling paint to metal paint, come in a range of finishes. These finishes range in terms of sheen, otherwise known as their level of reflectivity. The more sheen a paint has, the more light it reflects and the more durable it is. Technically speaking, by adding another layer between the heat source and the air, painting a radiator will reduce its heat output. However, the difference is so small that it will not affect the efficiency of your radiators in any noticeable way.

When you are painting something, it is usually necessary to put in a bit of time and effort to prepare the surface you would like to paint on, otherwise the paint will not adhere and you will be sorely disappointed. Previously painted surfaces (or the original factory finish) should be abraded and degreased prior to paint application.
